If you're lucky enough to have an apartment with a laundry room in your unit, it's important to maximize the little amount of floor space that these rooms usually have. Doing laundry isn't very fun to begin with, let alone if you can barely walk from each machine to your cleaners etc. Try mounting a rack above the machines that can hold baskets that you can fill with dirty clothes, clean clothes, rags, etc.
